Your
styles are considered to be "updated retro." From where did that
concept emerge?
Megan and I have both collected vintage sunglasses for
quite some time now. We share a passion for authentic vintage sun wear
and thought it would be a great idea to collaborate and design a modern
line of retro inspired sunglasses that reminded us of some of our
favorite styles.
This is your first collection...how did you end up
collaborating?
Megan and I share a passion for vintage sunglasses. We both work
closely together for eyewear and accessories company, Cinzia Designs.
When the opportunity arose to design a collection for Cinzia, we were
ecstatic. It was the opportunity we had both been waiting for. We
inspire each other and make a great team.
Women love sunglasses. Any ideas as to where that
obsession stems from?
We don’t necessarily have the answer for this question, but we do
have some insight on the topic. We believe that sunglasses are a
reflection of your personal style. Women love to accessorize.
Sunglasses allow you to differentiate yourself from everyone else. It’s
the first thing people see when you walk into view, so it should be a
true representation of your individual style. They also protect you from
sun damage and wrinkles etc. which is a very attractive feature for most
women as well. You can have a lot of fun wearing sunglasses, there’s
almost a mystique behind them…. like an alter ego.
I adore the Abracadabra in the black and teal...do you have
a favorite?
I think we both agree that our favorite is Rapture in Pearl
and Brown. It’s a great frame, very unique.
Can
you give us any insight into any of your upcoming collections?
For our next designs we plan to incorporate unisex styles
into the collection. For color direction, we are going to expand on
classic colors such as tortoise and black. We want to make the next
collection more universal, but still keep our signature look. They will
all be vintage-inspired of course.
What looks or designs are piquing your interest for
spring/summer?
For Spring/Summer 09’ we are diggin’ on the 80’s inspired
designs. Karen Walker has an amazing sun wear collection this season
(not to mention every season). She’s been a source of inspiration for
Megan and I. Bright colors, bold shapes, interesting details and
materials are all on our radar this season. We continue to be inspired
by looks from the past.
Q&A with Lindsey Reisack and Megan Brown
of Redeux Sunglasses
Ahhhhh summer....I'm convinced there is no
better season...ice cream, open windows, sandals, and of course, the
ultimate summer accessory, sunglasses! While I'll always be a
fan of labels like Christian Dior and Dolce & Gabbana, I also
L-O-V-E love finding fresh new designers ready to create a label of
their own. Enter Lindsey Reisack and Megan Brown co-designers
of
Redeux Sunglasses, a Cinzia Design line. Their first
collaboration has proven to be a huge success. Vintage
inspired designs mixed with updated colors and materials have led to
five perfect pair of light blocking spectacles you'll be reaching
for during the dog days of summer.
Lucky for us, a super sweet Reisack shed even more light into the
Redeux line
and concepts, as well as what is in store for us with future lines:
